Massachusetts Clean Energy Center
Wind turbine blades must withstand tremendous amounts of stress while generating power. But, with production ramping up across the globe, blade manufacturers have a lot on the line to keep up with increased demand while staying on the cutting-edge of technology.
To ensure that tomorrow's turbines meet the test of a changing environment, the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center was built to put prototype blades through a 20-year stress test.... in 2 months!
It's the largest facility of its kind in the world... and to make sure that their measurements and read-outs are always precise, they called on the NECA-IBEW to do the work.
A tour of the facility, how the blades are tested and the professional electrical installation await you in this ElectricTV feature story.
