Toledo Zoo Solar "Snake"
Northwest Ohio isn't the most ideal location for a solar array. The sun doesn't shine in Toledo on a day-to-day basis and when it does there always seems to be passing clouds. Rarely is it clear and sunny, like it is in other areas of the country more suitable for this type of job. Combine that with the fact that typical inverters which transform the sun's rays into useable energy are loud and would be disruptive to the animals at the Toledo Zoo. Faced with these problems, NECA contractor Romanoff Electric and IBEW Local 8 found solutions by working together and built a beautiful, functional array that "snakes" around the parking lot.
