Construction management programs have been lacking in a lot of instruction reguarding the electrical trade. Many new construction managers coming out into the field don't understand the complexity of electrical construction. Giving them a little more background into the work done by NECA/IBEW contractors such as the demonstration wall within there newly renovated building gives them a first hand view of the work behind the walls and helps them to understand that it is not just a simple switch or receptacle as seen walking into a room, that there are a lot of other connecting items which make the system complete. Too many times it is forgotten how much goes into the wiring in a building. "Just have your part installed by tomorrow so we can drywall" is often the response that is given by construction managers when the job is in a rush mode. The quality of the workforce from the IBEW/NECA construction teams often times are long forgotten after the walls are covered and the project is completed.

What a fantastic idea to have a "demo wall" showcasing what we do and how we do it. Basically, "IBEW/NECA Electricians DO IT FOR EVERYONE TO SEE!" and/or "don't try this at home." We should all try and learn from this and promote this type of advetising every opportunity we can.

Colorado State University's Construction Management Program is one of the best in the country - the NECA/IBEW team recently completed the remodel of the department's main building, keeping our name in front of tomorrow's leaders today.
